Each Christmas, Alice conjures up a new collection of hand-painted Tree Dancers.

This year's cast includes a Merman, a Sailor Girl, a Mouse King and a Christmas Princess, among many others, they are whimsical figments of half-remembered dreams, each with its own character and story.

Lovingly painted by hand in Alice's Somerset studio, using Edward Bulmer Natural Paints, every Tree Dancer really is a labour of love, bringing moments of tenderness into the sea of chaos that is everyday life.

Created not just for Christmas, but as heirloom keepsakes to be brought out year after year (or cherished all year round), they are made to become part of family traditions, treasured and passed from one generation to the next. Over the years, Alice’s Tree Dancers have become cherished collector’s pieces, with many returning each Christmas to add more magical companions to their growing troupe.

Alice grew up in a creative environment in Somerset, where a love of treasure hunting, theatre, and costume led her to train in fashion design. She later spent nine years in Paris, working in the fashion houses of designers including John Galliano and Sonia Rykiel. There, she developed the sensitivity to texture and crafted embellishment that defines her work today. Returning to Somerset, Alice now creates her work from her studio in Frome, where she brings together forgotten fabrics, trinkets, and treasures to create cherished companions and future heirlooms.

Each handcrafted piece is inspired by nature, dreams, and imagination, and created to spark joy, wonder, and a sense of connection.

Her work is an invitation to tap into the playful kaleidoscope of childhood imagination, even as adults.

Alice's work has been commissioned by designers and private patrons worldwide, and exhibited in galleries in Paris, London, and Somerset.

Ongoing partnerships include Harrods and Fortnum & Mason.

 Alongside this, she presents a collection of unique textile pieces at Harrods and a bespoke collection of individually hand-painted wooden Tree Dancers available at Fortnum & Mason.

She welcomes creative collaborations and bespoke commissions.

All Tree Dancers are designed, sanded, primed and painted by Alice in her studio, located in the heart of the Somerset town of Frome, a vibrant community known for its cobbled streets, independent shops and thriving creative spirit.

She uses Edward Bulmer Natural Paints, selecting colours from their rich palette, often inspired by nature and historic interiors. The paints are highly pigmented and have excellent environmental credentials.

Each design begins as a hand-drawn illustration before being precision cut from 3mm plywood by a local workshop.

Once painted and sealed, every Tree Dancer is finished with a satin ribbon and bell, then presented in a foil-printed gift box.
